Role Objective
To assure that Project C.O.P.E. participants have a safe and
fulfilling experience in the program and the safe operation of
the climbing tower, C.O.P.E. area, and Aerial Adventure Park
Reports to
COPE/Climbing Assistant Director and COPE/Climbing Director
Requirements
Holds a Level I Instructor certification for COPE or climbing.*
Must be in good standing with the Boy Scouts of America,
Conquistador Council, and Wehinahpay Mountain Camp.
Preferences
Previous climbing and COPE experience.
Description
The COPE/Climbing Staff provides instruction to campers in the program facilitated by
the COPE/Climbing area with strict adherence to safety. Specific responsibilities include:
Offer a quality COPE/Climbing program that includes the Climbing Merit Badge
and Project C.O.P.E. program.
Assist in the set-up and take-down of the climbing tower, C.O.P.E. course, and
Aerial Adventure Park under strict adherence to all National Standards regarding
Project C.O.P.E. and climbing facilities.
Maintain strict discipline at all times when campers, leaders, and other staff are in
the area.
Participate in all camp-wide activities.
Assist in the set-up and take-down of all camp facilities.
All other duties as assigned.
*Level I Instructor COPE certification will occur during staff week, taught by the
COPE/Climbing Director.
