Role Objective

To carry out a quality Shooting Sports program for campers
while maintaining high standards of safety.

Reports to

Assigned Shooting Sports Assistant Director and Shooting
Sports Director

Requirements

Must be in compliance with the Boy Scouts of America's
National Camp Accreditation Program Standard SO-407 or
SO-408* or is otherwise able to become compliant with the
requirements before the start of the summer camp season.
- Certification as either an NRA Instructor in rifle or
shotgun, or an NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)
- See "*" for archery staff assignment.
Must be in good standing with the Boy Scouts of America,
Conquistador Council, and Wehinahpay Mountain Camp.

Preferences

Ample knowledge and experience in the safe use and
education of firearms and/or archery.

Description

The Shooting Sports Staff will exhibit proficiency in skill and safety of shooting sports and

demonstrate an interest in the program. Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Offer a quality Shooting Sports Area program which may include shooting sports

    merit badges, open shoot, sporting arrows, and Cowboy Action Shooting.

  2. Assist in the set-up and take-down of a quality Shooting Sports Area.

  3. Maintain strict discipline at all times when campers, leaders, and other staff are in

    the area.

  4. Participate in all camp-wide activities.

  5. Assist in the set-up and take-down of all camp facilities.

  6. All other duties as assigned.

*Training for archery staff will occur on camp during staff week.
